Problem: Create and promote a product made by Swatch Bijoux while promoting a campaign against environmental pollution.

Process: Through exploratory research, I realized that Swatch, from their beginnings, has embraced a concept of simplicity and relatively disposable accessories, focusing more on creating a fashion piece than a durable piece. Today, the new proposal from Swatch Bijoux creates a new piece that promotes an environmental campaign against pollution and promotes a product based on recyclable materials that made the company’s established design concept.

Solution: Keeping the campaign in mind, I decided to create and use as the principal piece, a handmade jewelry product made from recyclable paper. The product has a circular form and is very similar to Sushi. For that reason the product was named “Umi Rolls.” Umi means beach in Japanese, and the term rolls was used because of the similar look to a sushi roll. Based on the campaign and the concept, women could dress an interesting and fashionable piece, and at the same time help to create an awareness against pollution.
